Floor Focus Magazine

We received some amazing coverage in this months' Floor Focus magazine.  Not only were we featured prominently in this month's Designovations (our second this year),  Bolon's Studio Plank Tile was mentioned in Floor Focus' Top 250 Design Survey featured in their October Issue.  In this survey, Floor Focus asked designers what most impressed them at the summer's NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago.  Our Studio Plank was singled out as being noteworthy.

In this month's Designovations, Tina Syring, owner of Syring Design, an interior design consultancy in Dallas, TX, spoke about how woven vinyl flooring is in the middle of a renaissance of sorts; it is now modern, industrial and high tech.  She goes on to highlight that not only has Bolon pioneered technology that pushes design limits, but has been active in forming partnerships with designers such as Tom Dixon, Paul Smith and Missoni.  She loves woven vinyl, and Bolon in particular, because interior designers no longer have to sacrifice aesthetics in order to address specification issues of performance, installation and maintenance.  So now flooring can become a true design element, something we at Bolon truly believe.

Interior Design Best of Year Finalist!

Bolon's Artisan Motley has been chosen as a finalist for Interior Design Magazine's Best of Year in the Flooring: Hospitality Category!  We love that one of our newest designs is receiving so much love and recognition.

Artisan is designed for larger areas and is an ideal solution for offices, hotels and other interiors.  Its mixed-weft threads offer higher levels of dirt and wear resistance while still being warm and textile-like to the touch.  Artisan’s noise absorptions characteristics also add to its popularity in environments where peace and quiet is a must - like hotels.

Click here to view our submission along side the other finalists.  Winners will be announced at a live awards ceremony held in New York City on December 4th, 2014.

Thanks for Giving

DIFFA's Thanks for Giving was a huge success.  So many people braved the cold and rainy evening to come out and raise money for a good cause.  DIFFA has handed out grants to organizations that provide amazing, and much needed, services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

This was my first DIFFA event as a DIFFA Board member, and, as the host of the event, I had to give a speech.  Looking out into the audience I was overwhelmed by the generosity and love in the room.  It is uplifting to see so many people still know that while we have made huge strides in the fight against HIV/AIDS, we still have a long way to go...and I am honored to be doing my part.

Exciting day ahead

Nichlas Cedman, Bolon's Head of Sales, is visiting us today all the way from Sweden.  We are so very excited to have the pleasure of his company in the showroom as well as a guest of ours at DIFFA'S Thanks for Giving gala Thursday night.

In its second year, Thanks for Giving - DIFFA's annual holiday event - is being held at WeWork Soho Studios.   Thanks to our relationship with WeWork on several projects, they have generously donated the space in which the event is being held.    The event will include an auction, with all proceeds going directly to DIFFA.   We have also been working hand-in-hand with WeWork on a fantastic Bolon Studio™ installation, designed specifically for this event.   We can't wait to share how it turns out.

If you are in New York City tonight, please consider adding this event to your social calendar.  You can still purchase tickets here.   We promise you won't be disappointed!

Bolon Studio™ Tiles - Perfect Fit for the Gym

We couldn't be happier with this recently finished gym in the Washington Apartments in Pittsburgh.   Bolon Studio™ was used exactly as it was intended to be when created, and the effect is gorgeous.  The designer chose a large hexagon tile (a standard Studio shape) and then chose the patterns and colors she wanted to use- Botanic Cilia, Osier and Tilia.   A perfect example of how customizable and versatile Bolon Studio™ is.

Fall Dine & Learn

An upside to it getting darker earlier is that the showroom was so welcoming and full of ambiance from the candlelight for our guests last night for another fantastic Dine + Learn.    We had so much fun hosting the innovative designers of Durakan Design and S3 Architects last night and discussing all of the projects we have all been working on.  Each time we host a Dine and Learn, we walk away inspired and exited about our amazing NYC design community!

Ronald Mc Donald House

At VIIIR we are a proud sponsor of the Ronald Mc Donald House in Long Island, New York. For the second year in a row we sponsored a design team with our flooring, to make this a great place for these sick children and their families. A job well done I would say, looking at these pictures.
PS: Anthony and Angeline got creative too in the photo booth at the opening gala ;-)

This week we hosted a dinner and learn for Workshop/apd at our NYC showroom. They're a very fast growing architecture and design firm in Manhattan and it was really great to get to know their team better. I absolutely love our dinner concept, we always feel like one big family. LOVE!
