MetroCon Dallas 2014

We love it when our regional sales agents are active in their local trade shows.  Take a look at Bolon in use in the Bost, Inc. booth at MetroCon Dallas last week.  We love how Bill Bost, founder and principal of Bost, Inc., replicated our national NeoCon booth so that the architects and designers from Texas and Oklahoma who couldn't make it to Chicago could experience our Studio Planks up close and personal.

Featured in Floor Focus magazine

We are excited to be featured in the June issue of Floor Focus magazine.    Jessica Maples, a senior associate with Virginia-based Hickok Cole Architects included Bolon in her DESIGNOVATIONS column this month.    We love it when designers fall in love with and then recommend our products.

AOL's North American Headquarters

We are so excited about our installation in AOL's North American headquarter in Boston that we couldn't wait to it be be complete to share images.  Look how Karen Bala of Dyer Brown & Associates is using our Missoni Bayadere Turquoise to lend an air of whimsy and leisure to a corporate space.

AOL's office is located in the original Filene's Department Store building.  If you look closely, you will notice that the wallpaper is actually made up of Filene's newspaper ads from the 1950s.  What a creative job this installation is.  We can't wait to share the images of the completed project!

DIFFA's Picnic by Design

Last night we had the pleasure of both sponsoring DIFFA's Picnic by Design and purchasing a designer's picnic basket.  I was able to dine on Danielle Colding's masterpiece, surrounded by nearly 30 other picnic baskets - each highlighting the designer's interpretation of a picnic.  How amazing it was to be surrounded by so much creativity and beauty.

DIFFA, once again, threw a spot-on and stellar event where the cocktails were perfectly matched with shucked-to-order oysters.  Can't wait for the holiday Thanks by Giving event in November!

Summer is an amazing time of the year and New York can be surprisingly “dépaysant”, French for “an experience that brings you to a completely different world”.

I went from Asia to Italy all in upstate New York, and all in one weekend.  How amazing the simple things in life can be…

Lebuïnuskerk Church Loves Bolon's Create Collection

It is a perfect, sunny and crisp summer Friday in New York City.  Days like today get our creative juices flowing and in which we find inspiration on every corner.  In keeping with that creative and innovative feeling we have today, we wanted to share with you a brilliant a completely outside-the-box use of our flooring: in a church in Deventer, Netherlands.
Lebuïnuskerk is a church that originates from the Gothic period, built between 1450 and 1525. In the church's latest renovation Van Hoogevest Architecten - an office with a broad knowledge in historic architecture and renovation with among others Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as a client - choose Bolon Studio Triangles Create Pario for the floor, a collage surface that captures the light in a stunning way.  We loved how they took advantage of the unique light reflecting quality of the Create line to get an effect that looks like more than one pattern, while using just one pattern.   Using innovative design techniques for an innovative project is a prime example of capitalizing on creative juices!

It's Thursday, so you know what that means... #tbt

I usually always write this blog myself, however today I let one of our marketing team members, Lisa Kings, write on a TBT picture she selected.

"#tbt of Christophe in early 2012 in the midst of preparing for the official launch of ViiiR.  He must have been psychic so he practiced his surf moves in preparation for riding this wave of success these past two years.  We are riding a wave of all time high sales these past two months.  Glad Christophe knew this was coming and practiced his moves, or else he wouldn't be enjoying hanging ten!"

DIFFA's a Picnic By Design

We are so excited to be sponsoring DIFFA's Picnic By Design, next Wednesday, August 13th at Midtown Loft and Terrace.  Hosted by DIFFA as a sister event to DINING BY DESIGN, this is an exciting summer event that highlights design, food and fun, all for a good cause.

Picnic by Design redefines the concept of a traditional picnic and aims to engage a new generation with DIFFA.  Designers are provided with general basket requirements and their over-the-top designs are then sold online, in advance, for guests to enjoy.  When the guests arrive, they are escorted to their one-of-a-kind picnic set-up, which they take home after the festivities.

We are providing three rugs from our Create line, already part of DIFFA's Specify with Care program, which will be used for three sitting areas. We worked closely with Robert Allen, who is providing the linens for the event, to ensure our rugs complemented their color palette.  We can't wait to share what will sure to be amazing images of the event.

Click here for more information on the event and to purchase your very own picnic basket or tickets to the cocktail party.

Thon Hotel

Thon Hotels is a Norwegian hotel chain with seventy or so properties in Sweden, Norway and Brussels. Its hotel interiors are always designed in a specific style to give each an individual character and guarantee a unique experience for visitors.  Bolon’s extensive collections with their abundance of colour, patterns and tactile textures have been the go-to flooring for many of the chain’s hotels.  No matter what style the Olav Thon Group design team has chosen, Bolon is geared to fulfilling their ideas, requirements and dreams.
